Year 5 WW2 Day

To coincide with the 75th Anniversary of the D-Day landings, Year 5 were transported back in time to WW2 and what a wonderful time we had.  Through many different activities we were able to understand what it would be like to be an evacuee during the time of war, de-code messages like the code breakers of the time, learn about rationing,  understand why we went to war and also to look at the weapons and clothing of the soldiers.  It was a very busy day and our expert, ‘Corporal  Harry Smith’, from the company, Portals to the past,  was very impressed with the knowledge and behaviour of the children.  The whole day was incredible and I think you will agree that the children looked amazing in their costumes with their gas mask boxes and identity tags.  Some children even had teddy bears and suitcases.  Thank you to all the parents  for a great effort!
