Year 1 Settling In

The new Year 1 children have settled back into school beautifully. They have learnt lots of new routines and are becoming much more independent with organising themselves and their belongings. We are very proud of them all.

During the past two weeks we have been working on counting and number sequences in maths. We have been impressed with how far the children can count, and their brilliant number formation.

Our writing has been linked to our topic, All About Me. We have read a range lovely books which all celebrate being individual and how everyone is special. The books we have read so far are called; Only One Me, Titch and Super Duper You. The children have enjoyed the speaking and listening, and writing activities that we have linked to the books.

To aid the transition from Foundation Stage to Year 1, the children have had regular short sessions of task time which they have also enjoyed.
