Practical maths

Year 5 pupils have been busy applying their mathematical skills to a woodwork construction project. They had to accurately measure lengths, divide measurements to place drill holes equally apart, rule perpendicular lines, use angles, think about 3D shapes and use symbols to match up pieces of wood. Then (with some help from bench vices too) they got to grips with drills and hacksaws to create some very special pencil pots- as you can see! The adults were very impressed with the children’s creativity, effort, attitude and determination.
