Music of the Week

Hello everyone!

This week’s music of the week has been chosen for a very specific reason. On Friday 8th May, it will be the 75th anniversary of VE day. VE Day stands for Victory in Europe Day, which took place on Tuesday, May 8 in 1945. It marked the end of World War II, and was the day on which allied forces announced the surrender of Germany in Europe.

During World War II, many artists used their music to entertain and improve morale of the troops and of the general public. One such artist was Glenn Miller. He, along with his orchestra, recorded many big band hits, including “In the Mood”, “Chattanooga Choo Choo” and “Pennsylvania 6-5000”.

“In the Mood” is this week’s music of the week. See below for the information about Glenn Miller and the suggested activities and questions.

It is uplifting and joyous and I hope you find it enjoyable.

Stay safe!
