Marvellous maths

Year 4 have been learning all about perimeter and area in maths this week. The children have noticed rectilinear shapes will always have a perimeter which is an even number and used their maths knowledge to find the most efficient way to calculate perimeter.

Real world uses for perimeter and area have been discussed such as carpeting a lounge, building a fence, wallpapering a wall and laying a patio. We have challenged the children to think of other real world examples and the best way to measure perimeter and area and look forward to hearing their thoughts.
