Gymnastics Intra-House Competition
In Spring 1, all years took part in the gymnastics intra-house competition.
We thoroughly enjoyed the change of the sports afternoon format this year. All the children seemed really engaged and enthusiastic during all the events and stations.
During the KS1 event, it was wonderful to see the Year 6 children leading, supporting and engaging with our youngest children. Children in EYFS-Y3 encouraged and cheered their house during the flat and long distance races. This year, the only record that was broken was the Reception flat race, by Henry. After the flats, the children moved sensibly around the round robin stations, which included an obstacle race, water relay, quoit run, popping pirates, welly throw, "on the mat" and hoppers. Water relay was a firm favourite with many of the children! The children and staff enjoyed the fun and exciting atmosphere created by the round robin stations. Our sports afternoon ended with year group relays, where children worked well as a team. The lower school winner for the afternoon was Peake- well done!
During the KS2 sport afternoon, the children took part in flat and long distance races, and were supported by their houses. This year, the only record that was broken was the Year 6 long distance race, by Kian. After the flats, the children moved sensibly around the round robin stations, which included obstacle races, water relays, ball skills, standing long jump, over and under and javelin events. At the rest station, children had time to show off their moves to the music, even creating a conga line! Our sports afternoon ended with year group relays, a staff relay, and of course, the parent relay! The upper school winner for the afternoon was Sharman- well done!
The overall sports afternoon winners were Sharman!
The athletics team had a fantastic day on Tuesday 2nd July at Reddam House for the District Sports competition. All the children showed amazing sportsmanship and support for each other, and their teamwork in relay events was brilliant to watch! We had some incredible results:
600m boys - 4th Kian
600m girls - 3rd Olivia
Boys long jump - 1st Luke
60m girls - 3rd Tibby
Girls 4x80m relay - 3rd (Olivia, Lottie, Beatrice and Izzy )
Boys 4x80m relay - 2nd (Charlie, Rehan, Fergus and Luke )
We are really proud of everyone in the team for all their hard work, and thank you to parents for supporting the children, and bringing them to the event as well!
Overall, the children achieved the best ever result for Keep Hatch, and came in an incredible 4th place out of 18 schools! Well done to you all!
In Spring 1, all years took part in the gymnastics intra-house competition.
The girls year 5/6 football team played really well against St.Pauls on Wednesday.
Both our Year 5/6 football teams played friendly matches against Floreat Primary on Monday afternoon.
Well done to the children for completing a very slippery cross country competition last Thursday!
On Wednesday 5th February, Keep Hatch attended two School games Teamgym events for Year 3/4 and Year 5/6.
On a Thursday afternoon, we took part in our third cross country event of the year.
On Wednesday 22nd January, Amalie, Miley, Chloe, Leanne, Eleanor and Tibby, from Years 4-6, took part in an Advanced Teamgym event. They competed in tumble, springboard, and vault events, each earning points for the school team. They demonstrated impressive skills including back tucks, round offs and chin stands! They were beautifully behaved and worked so well as a team- well done girls!
As introduced last half-term, we have created some cog information that we feel will help to improve oracy and behaviour in PE.
Attached are two documents: cognitive cog information and the cognitive cog review questions.
Last week, the school took part in their first intra-house competition of the year, which was based on different ball skills.
On Monday 25th November the mixed year 5/6 football team played a mini tournament for the BSFA league. We played against Dolphin and Christ the King. They were tough matches but the team played well together and showed lots of skill and determination. The scores were-
2-0 to Christ the King
4-0 to Dolphin.
We are very proud of our team and all the matches they have played this term. We look forward to sharing the overall results from both league competitions for this term and finding out which league matches we will play in next term.
Well done to the cross country team who ran on Thursday at Lightwater. They all ran amazingly on a beautiful but cold winters afternoon! The team all ran well on a tricky route. We had some incredible results but will let you know the overall ones as soon as we have them. Thank you again to all the parents who help at these events and for transporting your child to and from the competitions.
The next cross country race is on Thursday 30th January at Braywick. This will be our MOB event.
